Partners Group Considers €800 Million Shift of Private Credit Loans into New Fund

Partners Group, a Swiss private markets firm managing $186 billion in assets, is exploring a plan to transfer approximately €800 million ($917 million) of private credit loans into a new continuation vehicle. This strategy aims to extend the life of credit assets from older funds, reflecting a significant trend in the private credit secondary market.

The loans involved originate from Partners Group's 2018 and 2020 Private Markets Credit Strategies funds, as well as various Multi-Asset Credit funds. These funds have finite lifespans, and the underlying loans do not always mature in alignment with the funds' winding down schedules. The proposed new fund would acquire these loans, allowing limited partners the option to either roll their commitments into the new vehicle or cash out through secondary sales.

The private credit secondary market has seen substantial growth, with volume exceeding $20 billion in the first half of 2026, more than double that of the same period in 2025. As of June 30, 2026, Partners Group's private credit portfolio stood at $40.5 billion, with the proposed €800 million transfer representing about 2% of that total. This move is part of a broader strategy by Partners Group to extend the duration of its credit strategies, including a recent $1 billion private credit mandate in Asia structured as an evergreen vehicle, which has no fixed termination date.
