Payward Delays IPO Until 2027 Amid Market Volatility

Payward, the parent company of the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, has postponed its initial public offering (IPO) until at least the second quarter of 2027. This marks the second delay for the company, which initially announced a postponement in March 2023 due to challenging market conditions and falling cryptocurrency prices.

Despite a significant rally in crypto prices during August, with Bitcoin rising nearly 25%, Payward's decision reflects ongoing volatility in equity markets. Rising bond yields and crude oil prices, coupled with geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, have contributed to a cautious outlook for potential IPOs in the sector.

Payward's delay is part of a broader trend among cryptocurrency firms, as several companies, including Grayscale and Consensys, have also postponed their IPO plans. Payward had confidentially filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to go public in November 2025, shortly after Bitcoin reached an all-time high of $126,000. The company recently raised $800 million from investors, achieving a valuation of $20 billion and reporting a revenue increase of 17% year-over-year for the second quarter.
