Qubic Network Suspended After 1,404 Wallets Compromised in Security Breach

Qubic has announced a significant security breach that occurred between 23:42 UTC on October 17, 2026, and 01:26 UTC on October 18, 2026. Attackers exploited a vulnerability in the randomness of wallet Seed generation, leading to the unauthorized access and transfer of approximately 29.4 trillion QU from 1,404 wallets. The issue was traced back to the Seed generation mechanism, rather than the Qubic protocol itself.

The affected wallets include those created in any browser on iPhone or iPad prior to October 18, 2026, as well as those generated in Mac Safari on the same date and through the Qubic iOS App before July 2025. In response to the breach, Qubic has paused its network at tick 85,371,949. Of the stolen funds, 87.1% remain on the Qubic network and have been frozen, while 12.9% has been transferred to the MEXC exchange, with those accounts also frozen.

Qubic has released version 4.26.4 to address the Seed generation vulnerability. Future actions regarding the recovery of the stolen funds will be determined by the Computor quorum in accordance with network rules. A complete technical report detailing the incident and the fund recovery plan will be published once finalized.
