      • Samsung has announced the launch of a stablecoin feature in the Samsung Wallet app.
      • It will go live in the last week of October for eligible Galaxy users in the US.
      • At launch, Samsung Wallet will support USDC and transfers to compatible crypto wallets and bank accounts in more than 60 countries.

Samsung announced the launch of a stablecoin feature in the Samsung Wallet app. It will become available in the last week of October for eligible Galaxy users in the US.

At launch, the service will support the USDC stablecoin. Users will be able to send it to compatible crypto wallets worldwide, as well as transfer funds to bank accounts in more than 60 countries, with recipients receiving the funds in local currency.

Stablecoins to be integrated into Samsung Wallet

Samsung is integrating the functionality directly into Galaxy via Samsung Wallet. The company notes that users will not need to install additional apps, create separate wallets, or manage private keys themselves.

At launch, the feature will be available on 82 million Galaxy devices in the US.

Users will be able to send USDC from Samsung Wallet to compatible crypto wallets abroad. Transfers are expected to be completed in seconds, with no transfer fee.

In addition, Samsung Wallet will support transfers to bank accounts in more than 60 countries. Recipients will not need their own crypto wallet — funds will arrive in local currency.

Bastion — a licensed custodian and stablecoin infrastructure provider — is responsible for the service’s infrastructure rollout and regulatory compliance. The company has brought in Coinbase as a sub-custodian, and USDC in Samsung Wallet will be held via Coinbase Prime Vault.

Biometric authentication will be required to confirm each transfer on compatible Galaxy devices.

USDC will be the first stablecoin available in Samsung Wallet. Additional technical infrastructure and blockchain support will be provided by partners, including Solana and Sui.

In the future, Samsung plans to expand the service’s functionality. In particular, the company is considering enabling stablecoin payments online and via NFC in stores, as well as expanding into other countries depending on local regulations.

As a reminder, earlier analysts explained why Samsung could become a future leader in stablecoin distribution.
