U.S. Stock Market Q3 Earnings Season Begins with Strong Expectations for Technology Sector
The third quarter earnings season for U.S. stocks has commenced, with projections indicating a year-on-year earnings growth of 24.3% for S&P 500 companies. This marks the eighth consecutive quarter of double-digit growth, driven significantly by the technology sector, which is anticipated to see a remarkable profit increase of 43.3%.
As the narrative surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) continues into its fourth year, investors are increasingly focused on the stability of profit growth. Companies that fail to meet market expectations may experience heightened downward pressure on their stock prices, particularly those that have previously benefited from optimistic AI projections.
Major technology firms are scheduled to release their earnings over the coming weeks. Key dates include SML on October 14, TSMC on October 15, and Netflix on October 20, with other notable companies such as Tesla, Alphabet, and Microsoft set to report by the end of October. November will see earnings announcements from Apple and Palantir, among others, while December will conclude the earnings season with reports from Marvell and CrowdStrike. These dates are subject to change as companies finalize their reporting schedules.
