Alibaba Launches Qwen Smart Glasses Series in Hangzhou

Alibaba Group has introduced the Qwen Glasses N1 series smart glasses during an event held in Hangzhou, China, as part of its strategy to expand into consumer electronics through artificial intelligence. The glasses are priced starting at 2999 yuan, which is approximately 450 USD, positioning them competitively against Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses.

The Qwen Glasses N1 series features an enhanced 50-megapixel camera and various sensors. The Pro version, priced at 3499 yuan, includes eye-tracking capabilities and offers a standby time of 25 hours, or 9 hours of music playback on a single charge. This launch comes nearly a year after the release of the first version, which integrated the Qwen AI assistant more effectively and broadened its functionalities.

Wu Jianjun, General Manager of Qwen AI Hardware Products, emphasized that Alibaba aims to compete based on quality and functionality rather than just price. This move mirrors strategies seen in the industry, as Meta recently released a simplified version of smart glasses designed for interaction with its Muse AI assistant, priced at 349 USD.
