X Introduces Cryptocurrency Trading Feature for U.S. Users

Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has launched a new feature allowing users in the United States to trade cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the company, led by Elon Musk, to transform X into an 'everything app' that encompasses various financial services, including banking and trading.

Users can engage in cryptocurrency trading by selecting tags such as '$BTC' and clicking a 'trade' button, which redirects them to partner platforms like Interactive Brokers and Gemini for transactions. This feature marks a significant step towards X's goal of integrating stock and crypto trading directly into its platform.

With a user base of 245 million globally, X is increasingly becoming a focal point for cryptocurrency discussions. Influential posts about digital assets from figures like Elon Musk have historically led to immediate price fluctuations in the market. As of September 22, Bitcoin is trading at approximately $86,000 U.S.
