Aave (AAVE) Surges Past $187 Following Cayman Foundation Governance Proposal
TLDR
- AAVE surged 8%, momentarily hitting $187.50 before consolidating around $182.
- A governance proposal suggests establishing a Cayman Islands foundation to manage protocol IP, domains, and trademarks.
- Token holders retain complete governance authority; the proposed foundation carries no voting or veto power.
- Technical indicators including daily MACD and 4-hour ADX signal bullish continuation toward the $200 level.
- Protocol founder Stani Kulechov revealed ongoing deliberations regarding a token burn mechanism for Aavenomics 3.0.
The AAVE token posted an 8% gain on Friday, peaking at $187.50 during intraday trading before stabilizing near the $182 mark. The upward movement followed the release of a governance initiative by Aave Labs.

Under the proposal, a memberless foundation structure would be created in the Cayman Islands. This entity would serve as the custodian for the Aave brand, associated trademarks, and intellectual property connected to the protocol infrastructure.
The foundation could potentially manage core domain names and IP rights linked to service providers. The initial rollout phase focuses exclusively on formal incorporation and the appointment of an independent director alongside a supervisor.
Moving trademarks, domains, or any portion of the codebase into the foundation would require separate governance approvals. The DAO would cover incorporation expenses and legal costs during this preliminary phase.
Stani Kulechov, who founded Aave, explained that the strategy aims to consolidate the protocol’s assets under a single token structure. He positioned this move as a component of the broader “Aave Will Win” strategic vision.
DAO Maintains Full Governance Authority Over AAVE
The proposed foundation structure would not possess voting rights, veto authority, or any advisory capacity in routine governance matters. AAVE tokenholders would continue making all decisions regarding asset listings, protocol parameters, budget allocations, and service provider selections.
Through formal proposal mechanisms, the DAO maintains authority to appoint or dismiss directors. It would also exercise final control over constitutional amendments, intellectual property sales, and potential dissolution proceedings.
Quarterly transparency reports covering asset holdings and legal developments would be published by the foundation. This reporting framework ensures tokenholders stay updated on the entity’s activities and holdings.
Approximately $350,000 in short positions were liquidated across three trading platforms during the price surge. This upward movement represents a significant recovery from the $60 level reached in June.
Crypto analyst Crypto Patel shared an optimistic perspective on the price action. He noted AAVE has gained 223% from its $57–$67 accumulation range and identified $208, $355, and $1,000 as possible targets for the 2026–2027 market cycle, citing a rounding-bottom formation on the chart.
Chart Indicators Signal Potential Move Toward $200
According to TradingView metrics, AAVE was changing hands at $181.66, representing a nearly 6% session gain. The daily trading band spanned from $170.77 to $187.50.
The daily MACD indicator remained in positive territory, with the MACD line positioned above its signal counterpart. Meanwhile, the 4-hour ADX measurement rose to 40.62, suggesting sustained directional strength.
CoinGlass tracking revealed a concentration of liquidation levels just above current prices in the $188–$189 range. Pushing through this zone could activate forced buy orders from overleveraged short positions.
On the downside, liquidation concentrations appear near $178–$180 and $167–$168. These areas represent potential vulnerability zones where long positions might face forced closures during any retracement.
Analyst Michaël van de Poppe weighed in on the technical formation in a recent commentary. He observed that the current price architecture resembles the pattern preceding AAVE’s late-2024 rally to $400, stating he wouldn’t be shocked to witness a comparable movement before the year concludes.
The price appreciation came alongside announcements that Aave V4 integrated seven Coinbase-issued tokenized equities as collateral options on Base. The platform enables qualified users outside the United States to borrow USDC against tokens representing Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla shares.
Kulechov additionally confirmed that a permanent token destruction mechanism is being evaluated as part of Aavenomics 3.0. The protocol’s existing buyback initiative operates with a $50 million yearly allocation, though tokens acquired under the current program flow to the DAO treasury rather than being permanently removed from circulation.
