Anthropic Reports Slower Growth Amid AI Stock Selloff
Anthropic, a prominent player in the artificial intelligence sector, has reported a quarterly revenue increase of 45%, reaching $16.8 billion. This growth, however, marks a significant slowdown from the triple-digit increases seen in the previous quarter, raising concerns about the company's ambitious valuation target of $2 trillion.
The slowdown in revenue growth has contributed to a broader selloff in AI stocks. Major companies in the sector, including Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Micron Technology (MU), Sandisk (SNDK), Seagate Technology (STX), and Western Digital (WDC), experienced declines of 3% to 4% in premarket trading. Investors are increasingly worried about the implications of slowing growth in the AI market, compounded by rising interest rates and increasing debt levels.
As the market reacts to these developments, the future of AI valuations remains uncertain, with many analysts closely monitoring the impact of these economic factors on the sector.
