Crude Oil Prices Decline Amid De-Escalation Hopes and Upcoming UN General Assembly

Crude oil prices have been gradually decreasing as expectations for a potential de-escalation in geopolitical tensions rise. The decline was initially prompted by Saudi Arabia's announcement that it aims to restore approximately half of its East-West pipeline capacity within days, with full restoration expected in about six weeks. This was confirmed by U.S. Energy Secretary Wright, who stated that flows through the pipeline could resume shortly.

Additional de-escalatory developments include China's private request to Iran to leverage its influence over the Houthis, who have been engaged in military actions against Saudi Arabia. Hopes for broader de-escalation are also linked to the upcoming United Nations General Assembly, where U.S. President Donald Trump is anticipated to meet with Gulf leaders and possibly Iranian officials, including Iranian President Pezeshkian, who is expected to attend after the U.S. permitted an Iranian delegation to enter the country for the event.

Market analysts suggest that a successful de-escalation could lead to lower oil prices due to easing supply concerns. Conversely, any escalation in tensions could result in a significant price surge, potentially pushing West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil above the $100 mark. As the market prepares for these developments, key technical levels are being monitored, with support around the $93.00 level and resistance at $105.00.
