The European Banking Authority (EBA) has officially classified USD Coin (USDC), which is issued by Circle Internet Financial Europe SAS, as a significant e-money token (EMT). This classification comes as a result of the EBA's evaluation of the criteria outlined in the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA).
The designation of USDC as a significant e-money token reflects the growing recognition of digital currencies within the regulatory framework of the European Union. MiCA aims to create a comprehensive regulatory environment for crypto assets, ensuring consumer protection and financial stability across member states.
