Ethereum (ETH) Price: Analysts Urge Investors to Pay Attention After Historic 32.5% August Rally
Key Highlights
- August saw ETH climb 32.5%, marking its strongest monthly showing since July 2025
- Spot Ethereum ETFs in the United States recorded $1.85 billion in net inflows throughout August
- Large wallets added 430K ETH to their positions as smaller holders reduced exposure
- Price action has stalled near the $2,550 barrier, with current trading around $2,463
- BitMine added 53,501 ETH to its portfolio last week, pushing total reserves to approximately 5.9 million ETH
As of September 2, Ethereum is changing hands at approximately $2,463, reflecting a 1.79% increase over the preceding 24-hour period. This comes on the heels of an impressive August run that saw ETH climb 32.5% — representing its strongest monthly advance since July 2025.

Much of the upward momentum stemmed from institutional interest in US-based spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds. Data from SoSoValue reveals these investment vehicles captured $1.85 billion in net capital during August, representing their strongest monthly performance in more than a year. The month concluded with an 11-consecutive-day streak of positive flows, with just four sessions posting outflows during the entire period.
Large holders possessing between 10,000 and 100,000 ETH tokens added a combined 430,000 ETH throughout August, with the bulk of this accumulation occurring in the month’s latter half. Concurrently, smaller wallet addresses distributed hundreds of thousands of ETH, indicating a pronounced shift from retail participants to institutional players.

Network staking metrics also showed significant growth. Ethereum’s staking smart contracts received 1.4 million ETH during August, representing the largest single-month increase observed since February 2024. This movement of tokens into staking reduces circulating supply available for trading.
Market analyst BATMAN highlighted the momentum shift on X, observing that ETH “seems to not be getting the attention it deserves.” He emphasized that the recent price movement signaled a reversal to bullish territory following nearly twelve months of bearish momentum. His analysis noted that the 50-day moving average, which had previously served as resistance on multiple occasions, has now flipped to function as support. His recommendation to the community: “Don’t sleep on ETH.”
Price Action Meets Resistance at $2,550
Notwithstanding August’s impressive performance, ETH has encountered difficulty breaking cleanly through $2,550. Several breakout attempts have been rejected at this technical level without establishing a sustained move higher. Chain analyst Ted Pillows observed that leveraged long positions are accumulating aggressively near current price levels, creating potential for a sharp correction if the resistance holds. Open interest metrics have climbed to approximately 4.973 million contracts, while funding rates remain elevated.
Should bulls fail to defend current price territory, the $2,250–$2,300 range represents the next significant support zone. Conversely, a decisive breach above $2,550 could trigger a rally toward the $2,650–$2,700 region.
Institutions Maintain Accumulation Strategy
Corporate buying activity has persisted even as price action consolidates. BitMine expanded its position by 53,501 ETH over the past week, elevating its cumulative holdings to roughly 5.9 million ETH.
Market commentator DonAlt has observed that minimal macro-level resistance exists between present levels and the $4,000–$4,100 range, positioning that zone as a significant longer-term objective should ETH establish upward momentum.
ETH currently trades at $2,463, with the $2,550 level representing the most immediate resistance barrier on technical charts.
