Ethereum Faces Market Pressure Amid US-Iran Negotiations

Ethereum has encountered challenges in the cryptocurrency market this week, primarily influenced by macroeconomic factors rather than specific developments within the Ethereum ecosystem. A recent decline in oil prices had initially bolstered positive sentiment across risk assets, including cryptocurrencies, as concerns over inflation and interest rate hikes eased. However, remarks from former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the Iran conflict dampened expectations for a swift resolution, leading to a rise in oil prices, Treasury yields, and the U.S. dollar, which negatively impacted the crypto market.

Despite these headwinds, optimism resurfaced following Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a week, contingent upon U.S. compliance with its terms. Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, is expected to remain in New York over the weekend awaiting a response from the U.S. A successful negotiation could alleviate inflationary pressures and reduce aggressive rate hike expectations, potentially benefiting Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies.

On the technical front, Ethereum has shown signs of bearish momentum, with a significant support level identified around 2,560. Analysts suggest that if the price retraces to this support zone, buyers may re-enter the market, aiming for a rally towards the 3,000 mark. Conversely, a break below this support could lead to further declines, with a target of 2,360. Traders are advised to monitor the evolving situation between the U.S. and Iran closely, as it may influence market dynamics in the coming days.
