European Indices Close Mixed as DAX and FTSE MIB Gain

European stock markets closed mixed for the second consecutive day, with Germany's DAX and Italy's FTSE MIB recording gains. The DAX rose by 0.68% to finish at 26,285.05, while the FTSE MIB increased by 0.34% to close at 52,720.30. In contrast, France's CAC fell by 0.16% to 8,439.20, and Spain's Ibex declined by 0.21% to 20,056.59. The UK's FTSE 100 also saw a modest increase of 0.29%, ending the day at 10,886.17.

The broader European market was buoyed by falling oil prices, lower bond yields, and a rebound in technology shares ahead of Nvidia's earnings report. The latest U.S. sanctions against Iran were perceived as less severe than anticipated, alleviating concerns about potential disruptions to global energy supplies. European 10-year benchmark yields decreased significantly, with Germany's yield falling to 3.201% and France's to 4.052%.

In the U.S., Treasury yields also declined, with the 2-year yield at 4.202% and the 10-year yield at 4.649%. The major U.S. stock indices were trading higher, led by the Nasdaq, which gained 0.75%. Despite the positive market sentiment, U.S. consumer confidence slipped to 89.4 in August, and new-home sales fell by 10.5% in July, indicating ongoing economic concerns.
