Goldman Sachs Lowers Global Smartphone Shipment Forecasts

Goldman Sachs has revised its global smartphone shipment projections, now anticipating 1.1 billion units for 2026. The investment bank expects shipments to increase slightly to 1.2 billion units in both 2027 and 2028.

Despite the decline in shipment volumes, Goldman Sachs predicts that the overall market value will rise, reaching $624 billion in 2026 and $674 billion by 2028. This growth is attributed to higher prices and a shift towards premium devices.

The firm remains optimistic about the future of foldable smartphones, forecasting that shipments of these devices will reach 77 million units by 2028.
