Modon awards $200m Ras El Hekma contract to Egyptian JV

Abu Dhabi developer Modon Holding has awarded a construction contract for one phase of Wadi Yemm, a part of the $35 billion Ras El Hekma master development, to a joint venture between two Egyptian contractors.

Innovo Build and RedCon Construction will carry out infrastructure and contracting works for the ‘DP03 East’ package, valued at more than EGP12 billion ($230 million), RedCon said.

Spanning a built-up area of 323,000 square metres, the project is scheduled for completion within 21 months. The development encompasses 660 residential units, along with public service areas, lakes, a commercial mall, landscaping and road paving.

Abu Dhabi wealth fund ADQ appointed Modon, listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), as the master developer for the mega-project in 2024.

In July, Modon said it will develop a Nammos-branded luxury resort and residential project in Ras El Hekma.

The Ras El Hekma project is forecast to contribute $25 billion annually to Egypt’s GDP and create 750,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Wadi Yemm is the first ‘premium destination’ within Ras El Hekma, featuring residential units, hotels and recreational facilities, including two golf courses and a 10,000-seat open-air theatre.

Modon shares closed 0.33 percent lower at AED2.99 on Tuesday, down 11 percent since January 1.

ADQ is one of Modon’s largest shareholders.
