Solana (SOL) Consolidates at $121 as DeFi TVL Surges Past $6.7 Billion
TLDR
- SOL is currently trading around $121, maintaining support above its 20, 50, 100, and 200-day exponential moving averages.
- Weekly and daily charts identify $125 as the crucial resistance zone that could determine the next directional move.
- The Chaikin Money Flow indicator registers 0.23 on the daily timeframe, suggesting consistent accumulation.
- Total value locked in Solana’s DeFi ecosystem expanded from approximately $5.6 billion to $6.7 billion from September into October.
- Futures open interest has pushed beyond $7 billion, while liquidation data reveals significant clusters positioned near $115 and $125.
Solana was changing hands at $121.44 as of Oct. 6, representing a 0.55% increase over the preceding 24-hour period. The digital asset has been locked in a narrow consolidation phase following its strong September rally.

Looking at the daily timeframe, SOL recorded an intraday peak of $122 while bottoming at $118.88. This confined price action has persisted across multiple sessions, with the late-September swing high serving as the immediate overhead barrier.
Based on current valuation, SOL remains approximately 3.5% away from the $125 threshold highlighted on weekly charts. Reaching the $150 level would demand an upward movement of around 24% from present levels.
Technical analysis of the daily chart reveals SOL positioned above its 20-day EMA at $116.39 and 50-day EMA at $106.76. The longer-term 100-day and 200-day EMAs are located further below at $97.77 and $96.60 respectively.
Weekly Chart Identifies $125 as Decisive Level
Analyzing the weekly TradingView chart, the $125 mark corresponds with the Murrey Math indicator’s central pivot point for support and resistance. SOL was quoted at $120.77 on this timeframe, sitting just beneath this critical level.
The subsequent Murrey Math level above is positioned at $156.25, representing the upper boundary of the existing range structure. On the downside, the corresponding lower limit stands at $93.75.
The weekly Average Directional Index (ADX) registered a reading of 30.21. This metric quantifies trend strength without indicating direction, meaning it doesn’t independently signal whether October will be bullish or bearish.
A market observer on X, known as Wealthmanager, characterized SOL as developing a narrowing triangle pattern, with descending highs and ascending lows compressing the price range. The analyst highlighted that while no breakout has materialized yet, the setup suggests a significant move may be imminent.
DeFi Metrics and Derivatives Market Show Strength
According to DeFiLlama statistics, Solana’s total value locked expanded from roughly $5.6 billion in early September to approximately $6.7 billion by early October. Decentralized exchange volume and active wallet addresses maintained strong levels throughout this period.
CoinGlass analytics indicate Solana’s open interest has surged above the $7 billion threshold toward the conclusion of this timeframe. Both long and short positions have experienced liquidations as SOL fluctuates around the $121 mark.
The one-month liquidation heatmap from CoinGlass displays concentrated zones around $115 to $116 beneath the current trading price. Additional accumulations appear near $112 and within the $104 to $105 range.

On the upside, the heatmap reveals concentrated areas around $123 to $125, with additional zones near $126 to $127. These price points align closely with the weekly $125 pivot mentioned earlier.
The daily Supertrend indicator continues to flash green at $107.22, positioned roughly 11.3% below the current market price. SOL has maintained its position above this technical line throughout the recent consolidation phase.
The daily chart identifies $113.05 as the primary support threshold. A decisive break below this level could redirect attention toward the lower exponential moving averages.
Network development has also progressed. The Solana Foundation announced that mainnet slot times achieved 250 milliseconds on Sep. 18, with plans to reduce them further to 200 milliseconds at epoch 1052.
