S&P 500 Market Breadth Declines to Lowest Level Since Dot-Com Bubble

The S&P 500 index has experienced a significant decline in market breadth, reaching levels not seen since the dot-com bubble. Goldman Sachs has reported that the median stock within the index is currently trading 16% below its 52-week high, indicating a broad weakness among S&P 500 constituents.

Investor positioning has also seen a sharp decrease, suggesting a cautious sentiment among market participants. Despite this downturn, Goldman Sachs believes there is potential for underperforming stocks to recover if macroeconomic uncertainties begin to stabilize.
