Trump Rules Out Nuclear Action Against Iran, Keeps Military Options Open

US President Donald Trump stated he would not use nuclear weapons against Iran and does not foresee deploying ground troops in the country. However, he left the possibility of a strike on Pickaxe Mountain, an underground site near Natanz linked to Iran's nuclear program, open. In an interview with Newsmax, Trump mentioned that the US may need to target this site, which has been a focus of his threats since July.

Pickaxe Mountain, known in Iran as Kuh-e Kolang, is a complex of tunnels located a few miles from Natanz and is estimated to be buried about 100 meters underground. Analysts have described it as the last significant nuclear-related site in Iran that has not been attacked. Despite the potential for air strikes, experts caution that even the most powerful US bunker-busting bombs may not guarantee its destruction.

Trump's comments come amid mixed signals from Washington regarding military action against Iran. Last week, he indicated that the US would not launch an attack before the midterm elections in early November, while reports from CBS News suggested that the White House and Pentagon have prepared plans for using one of the largest conventional bombs against Iranian military sites if ordered. The situation remains fluid, with energy markets closely monitoring developments, particularly concerning the Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for global oil supplies.
