U.S. Jet Fuel Prices Approach $5 Per Gallon Amid Global Supply Disruptions

Jet fuel prices in the United States have reached significant highs, with costs hitting $4.95 per gallon in New York and $4.91 in Los Angeles. These prices mark the highest levels observed since March and April of this year, reflecting ongoing global supply challenges.

The surge in jet fuel prices is attributed to recent Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries, which have contributed to tighter fuel supplies worldwide. Additionally, disruptions in shipments from the Middle East are exacerbating the situation, further straining the availability of fuel.

Compounding these issues, U.S. diesel inventories are currently at record seasonal lows, which is increasing pressure on jet fuel markets and raising operating costs for airlines. This combination of factors is likely to impact air travel and logistics in the coming months.
