U.S. Markets to Monitor Key Economic Indicators Today

On October 5, 2026, U.S. markets will focus on several important economic indicators and events. The New York Federal Reserve is set to conduct bill purchases with maturities ranging from four to twelve months, starting at 9:20 AM ET. This activity is part of the Fed's ongoing efforts to manage liquidity in the financial system.

At 9:45 AM ET, the final readings for the S&P Global Services PMI and the S&P Global Composite PMI will be released. These indices are crucial for assessing the health of the services sector, with the ISM Services PMI also scheduled for release at 10:00 AM ET. Analysts expect a consensus reading of 55.7 for the ISM Services PMI, slightly up from the previous figure of 55.4. Key components to watch in this report include employment, new orders, and prices paid, which were previously recorded at 47.8, 60.9, and 72.6 respectively.

Additionally, two Treasury bill auctions will take place today, with the 3-month and 6-month bills being auctioned at 11:30 AM ET. No speeches from Federal Reserve policymakers are scheduled for today, allowing market participants to focus on these economic indicators without additional commentary from the Fed.
