In 2026, the world's approximately 100 tech billionaires collectively added a record $845 billion to their wealth through September, largely fueled by the rapid growth of artificial intelligence and rising technology stocks in the United States. This surge brought their total wealth to an impressive $4.6 trillion.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, was a significant contributor to this increase, gaining $310 billion, which represents about 40% of the overall rise noted in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. In contrast, billionaires outside the technology sector experienced a decline, losing a total of $62 billion during the same period.
