U.S. Treasury Yields Surge to Multidecade Highs Amid Significant Selloff

The U.S. bond market is concluding the third quarter of 2026 with a notable selloff, resulting in 10- and 30-year Treasury yields reaching their highest levels in decades. This sharp increase marks one of the most significant quarterly repricings of U.S. government debt in recent years.

Data from WSJ/Dow Jones Market Data indicates that the yield on the 10-year Treasury rose by 85 basis points, representing the largest quarterly increase since 2016. Similarly, the 2-year Treasury yield increased by 75 basis points, the most substantial rise since the second quarter of 2023, while the 30-year yield climbed by 70 basis points, the highest jump in two years.
