      US Treasury Sells $58 Billion in Three-Year Notes at 4.932% Yield

      The U.S. Treasury successfully auctioned $58 billion in three-year notes on October 6, 2026, achieving a high yield of 4.932%. This auction marks the first in a series of three coupon auctions scheduled for this week, which will also include ten-year and thirty-year notes.

      The auction results indicated a slight stop-through of 0.2 basis points compared to the average stop-through of 0.3 basis points. The bid-to-cover ratio was recorded at 2.62, slightly below the average of 2.65. Direct bidders accounted for 31.7% of the auction, significantly higher than the average of 21.5%, while indirect bidders represented 57.6%, below their average of 65.9%. Dealers took a smaller share than usual at 10.7%, compared to an average of 12.6%.

      Overall, the auction received a grade of C+, reflecting a slightly above-average performance despite the mixed demand dynamics. The market showed little movement following the auction results, indicating a cautious response from investors.
