World Unveils World Money: A Self-Custody Crypto Super App With Stripe and Apple Pay
Key Highlights
- World Money debuts as a self-custodial financial super app spanning over 150 nations worldwide
- Users can make stablecoin payments, trade digital assets, earn incentives, and maintain balances across eight different currencies
- U.S. customers benefit from Stripe partnership enabling stablecoin purchases via Apple Pay

The crypto identity platform World, previously recognized as Worldcoin, has introduced its newest financial application dubbed World Money. The platform went live Thursday and extends its reach to more than 150 nations, with functionality differing based on geographic location.

Built on self-custodial principles, the application allows users complete control over their digital assets. Functionality includes stablecoin transactions, cryptocurrency trading, and reward accumulation. The platform accommodates balance storage in eight distinct currencies and enables peer-to-peer transfers of supported digital assets using simple usernames.
Apple Pay and Stripe Integration Streamline Crypto Acquisition
A standout capability emerges through World’s collaboration with Stripe. American users gain the ability to deposit funds into World Money accounts and acquire stablecoins seamlessly via Apple Pay. According to World, these transactions generally complete in just minutes.
The platform also facilitates access to external services via Mini Apps. Available integrations encompass Kalshi, a marketplace for prediction trading, alongside Morpho, which operates as a decentralized lending infrastructure.
The app incorporates World ID, the project’s biometric authentication system. Users completing identity verification gain access to enhanced reward multipliers on qualifying Earn opportunities.
Dual-App Structure Separates Identity from Financial Services
This launch establishes a bifurcated service model for World. The World ID App manages identity authentication and credentials exclusively. World Money encompasses wallet functionality, payment processing, and financial instruments. Previous users of the original World App maintain seamless access using their established credentials.
Tools for Humanity, the organization behind World Money, was co-established by Sam Altman, who concurrently serves as CEO of OpenAI, alongside Alex Blania.
The evolution toward a comprehensive super app has been gradual. World integrated crypto payment capabilities and messaging functionality into its platform in March 2025. That same summer saw Circle deploy native USDC on World’s network, superseding the bridged USDC previously utilized in World App wallets.
October 2024 brought World App 3.0, introducing external Mini Apps alongside a Vault mechanism for generating yields on holdings. November 2025 witnessed a pilot program for virtual banking accounts in America, which subsequently expanded internationally the following month. These accounts enabled automatic conversion of salary deposits and bank transfers into USDC.
World emphasizes that verified human identity forms the cornerstone of its network architecture. The organization contends that as artificial intelligence facilitates fraudulent account creation, authenticated human networks enhance trustworthiness in financial exchanges.
“Money moves differently when accounts belong to people,” World stated in its official announcement.
The World Money launch represents another significant milestone in World’s transformation into a comprehensive financial ecosystem built upon cryptocurrency infrastructure and human identity authentication.
