3iQ Secures In-Principle Approval for Category 4 License in Abu Dhabi

3iQ Corp., a crypto investment manager, has received in-principle approval for a Category 4 license for its UAE-based subsidiary, 3iQ Middle East Ltd, from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) on October 12, 2026. This approval marks a significant step toward establishing regulated operations in the region, although full operational permissions are contingent upon meeting additional regulatory conditions.

The Category 4 license enables 3iQ Middle East to provide advisory services and non-discretionary investment arrangements, allowing clients to make final decisions on transactions. This move is part of 3iQ's broader strategy to expand its presence in key digital asset markets globally, with Abu Dhabi seen as a crucial entry point for serving accredited investors.

The approval follows a strategic partnership with Further, a local digital asset investment manager, aimed at enhancing institutional access to digital assets through 3iQ’s Managed Account Platform (QMAP), which has already secured $100 million in seed capital linked to sovereign investment. Arvind Ramamurthy, ADGM’s Chief Market Development Officer, noted that this approval reflects growing interest from international firms in the region's digital asset offerings.

While the in-principle approval is a milestone, it does not grant full operational capabilities until all regulatory conditions are satisfied. This development may encourage other firms to explore opportunities within the UAE's expanding digital asset sector.
