ENSv2 Activation Proposal Aims to Stop New ENSv1 Registrations
A proposal to activate the Ethereum Name Service version 2 (ENSv2) has been introduced, which would effectively halt new registrations for the existing ENSv1. This move is part of a broader strategy to streamline the service and enhance its functionality within the decentralized domain name system.
Under the new proposal, current holders of .eth domains will not face a migration deadline, allowing them to retain their existing domains without immediate pressure to transition to the new version. Additionally, ENS Labs plans to transfer its remaining administrative roles related to ENSv2 to the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), promoting a more community-driven governance model.
