BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust Sees $65.4 Million Outflow on October 12
On October 12, 2026, BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) experienced net outflows totaling $65.4 million, which accounted for the entirety of outflows in the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF market on that day. This marked a significant event as all other spot Bitcoin ETFs remained unchanged, indicating that the outflows were specific to IBIT.
The recent outflow follows a more tumultuous period for the Bitcoin ETF market, particularly on October 7, when U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs collectively faced a peak single-day outflow of $484.9 million. IBIT contributed $207.7 million to that total, highlighting its prominence in the market. In contrast, the outflow on October 12 was approximately one-third of IBIT's earlier redemption, suggesting a decrease in selling pressure.
IBIT remains the largest Bitcoin ETF by assets and historical inflows, with cumulative net inflows around $65.67 billion. The recent outflow represents a minor fraction of this total, indicating that while there is some movement, it does not reflect a widespread trend among Bitcoin ETF investors. The overall U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF market manages about $106 billion in assets, representing roughly 6.35% of Bitcoin's total market capitalization, underscoring the significance of these flows in the broader cryptocurrency landscape.
