UK Crypto Trader Loses $800,000 in Violent Home Invasion
A crypto trader in Solihull, United Kingdom, was violently robbed of approximately $800,000 in a home invasion on December 13, 2025. The victim, identified only as 'James,' was attacked by three masked men who forced their way into his residence in Smith’s Wood. The intruders assaulted him with hammers and threatened his pregnant wife with a knife, demanding access to the couple's cryptocurrency investments.
During the 45-minute ordeal, James was coerced into transferring significant amounts of cryptocurrency into wallets controlled by the attackers. A fourth individual reportedly directed the robbery via a video call, ensuring the criminals executed their plan effectively. In addition to the digital assets, the gang also stole luxury items, including high-value Rolex watches, before fleeing the scene in a suspected black BMW X3.
As of early October 2026, West Midlands Police have made no arrests in connection with the case, which has drawn attention due to the increasing prevalence of violent robberies targeting cryptocurrency traders. In response to the ongoing investigation, Crimestoppers announced a £10,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the suspects, who are believed to be young men in their twenties. This incident is part of a troubling trend, with reports indicating that around $30 million has been lost to similar violent robberies in the first half of 2026.
