BlackRock ETF Clients Withdraw $75 Million from Ethereum Trust

On October 12, 2026, clients of BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) withdrew $75.07 million worth of Ethereum, contributing to a broader trend of outflows from US spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The total net outflows across all US spot Ethereum ETFs reached $85.4 million on the same day, indicating significant investor movement away from the asset class.

This recent withdrawal marks the culmination of nine consecutive days of redemptions from Ethereum ETFs. For the week ending October 9, these funds experienced net redemptions totaling $542.1 million, the largest weekly outflow since January 2026, with ETHA accounting for approximately 88% of this figure. Notably, the fund has seen substantial single-day withdrawals in recent weeks, including $110 million on September 16 and $201.9 million on October 6.

The outflows coincide with a decline in Ethereum's price, which was consolidating around $2,500 on October 12, down from earlier trading levels between $2,600 and $2,715. Despite these challenges, ETHA remains the leading fund in the category, having accumulated over $12.7 billion in cumulative net inflows since its launch in July 2024. As of October 12, total assets under management across US spot Ethereum ETFs were approximately $15.86 billion, representing about 5.15% of Ethereum's total market capitalization. Meanwhile, Bitcoin ETFs have seen mixed to positive inflows during this period, suggesting a potential shift in investor strategy rather than a complete withdrawal from cryptocurrency investments.
