Block Launches Major Bitcoin Campaign Targeting 60 Million Americans

Block, Inc., the parent company of Cash App and Square, has launched its first significant Bitcoin consumer campaign on October 1, 2026. The initiative aims to engage approximately 60 million Americans who are described as 'Bitcoin-curious.' The campaign promotes Bitcoin as a practical form of money rather than a speculative investment, encapsulated in the slogan, 'Some things don’t make sense. Bitcoin does.'

The campaign emphasizes Bitcoin's fundamental characteristics, such as its limited supply and decentralized nature, appealing to consumers amid rising living costs and economic uncertainty. This effort builds on a previous policy-focused campaign in November 2025, which advocated for a tax exemption on small Bitcoin transactions to ease reporting burdens for users.

Block has developed a comprehensive Bitcoin ecosystem, including Cash App for buying and sending Bitcoin, Square for merchant acceptance, and Bitkey for self-custody wallets. The company has also introduced incentives, such as 5% Bitcoin rewards through Cash App, to encourage usage. As of early 2026, Block reportedly held 8,883 BTC in its corporate treasury, underscoring its commitment to the cryptocurrency.

The campaign represents a strategic move for Block, as it seeks to generate demand for its existing Bitcoin infrastructure. With Square already facilitating Bitcoin transactions for millions of merchants, this new campaign aims to attract consumers willing to use Bitcoin for everyday purchases. The success of this initiative may also hinge on legislative developments regarding the de minimis tax exemption, which could further facilitate small transactions.
