Coinbase to Facilitate AERO and VELO Token Migration from November 2 to 4, 2026
Coinbase will support the migration of Aerodrome (AERO) and Velodrome (VELO) tokens to a new unified AERO token from November 2 to 4, 2026. This migration is part of a merger between the two decentralized exchanges, which are both operated by Dromos Labs, and will see the platforms combine under the Aero brand. During the migration period, deposits and withdrawals of the legacy tokens will be temporarily paused, and Coinbase will manage the conversion process for users holding these tokens on the exchange.
The conversion rates for the migration differ between the two tokens. AERO holders will see a 1:1 conversion to the new AERO token, while VELO holders will receive approximately 0.044 new AERO for each VELO token they hold. This allocation reflects the revenue generated by each protocol over the year leading up to the merger announcement, with Aerodrome producing $260 million compared to Velodrome's $15 million. As a result, Aerodrome holders will receive about 94.5% of the new AERO supply, while Velodrome holders will receive the remaining 5.5%.
The merger was first announced on November 12, 2025, with the goal of consolidating liquidity and governance into a single platform that will operate across multiple networks, including Base, Optimism, and Ethereum mainnet. The new Aero platform is set to launch on October 21, 2026, just before the Coinbase conversion takes place. Users holding tokens in their own wallets will need to follow a separate migration process, while Coinbase customers will have the exchange handle the conversion automatically.
