Bybit Kazakhstan Allowed Cryptoasset Investments to Count toward Obtaining Tax Residency in Kazakhstan

      • Bybit Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of cooperation with the AIFC.
      • Investments in digital assets on a licensed platform will be recognized under the program for foreign investors.
      • Program participants will be able to apply for Kazakhstan’s tax residency and an investor visa.

Crypto exchange Bybit Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of cooperation with AIFC Markets Ltd., the program office of the Astana International Financial Centre’s (AIFC) Investment Tax Residency Programme (ITRP), on October 14, 2026. The document provides for the verification and recognition of eligible digital asset investments made by program participants through the licensed Bybit Kazakhstan platform.

ITRP is an AIFC initiative that enables foreign investors to obtain Kazakhstan’s tax residency and an investor visa, provided they invest through the centre’s infrastructure. Previously, the program already provided for the recognition of certain digital asset investments made by qualified investors through platforms licensed by the AIFC Financial Services Authority (AFSA).

How the Investor Program Will Work

Under the memorandum, digital asset investments that meet ITRP requirements and are made through the licensed Bybit platform in Kazakhstan will be able to undergo verification and be recognized by the program office. The parties also plan to use an automated and secure mechanism to confirm investments.

The release notes that this should make it easier for international investors to participate in the program. They will be able to open an account on an AFSA-licensed platform, build a digital asset portfolio, and submit the relevant investments for recognition under the ITRP.

Bybit Kazakhstan Country Manager Ablaykhan Aubakir said that Kazakhstan is building a regulated environment for digital assets, and that the AIFC program demonstrates the practical application of this approach.

“This memorandum means that investors who choose Kazakhstan can build their digital asset portfolio on a licensed platform and be confident that these investments are recognised within the AIFC framework,” he said.

      Kazakhstan Expands Investment Infrastructure

AIFC Administration Board Chairman Bakhtiyar Tleubekov called the inclusion of digital assets in the ITRP an important step in developing the country’s investment infrastructure.

According to him, the program update expands the range of tools for attracting international capital and creates additional opportunities for investors within the AIFC ecosystem.

The memorandum continues Bybit Kazakhstan’s cooperation with the financial center. The company holds AIFC participant status and an AFSA license. The parties also plan to consider other joint initiatives to develop regulated digital asset infrastructure in Kazakhstan.

Detailed program terms are available on the official AIFC website.
