Chinese Media Outlets Remove False Report on Li Ka-shing's Death

Mainstream financial media in China, including The Paper and Jinshi Data, have retracted a report claiming that Li Ka-shing, a prominent Hong Kong businessman, had passed away. The news was initially published as a response from Cheung Kong Holdings, the company founded by Li, stating that the rumors were 'absolutely not true.'

The deletion of the report occurred on October 15, 2026, shortly after its brief appearance. While The Paper and Jinshi Data have removed the content, Caixin continues to host the report, although it cites The Paper as its source.

Li Ka-shing, known for his extensive business empire and philanthropic efforts, remains a significant figure in the global business landscape. The swift action by Chinese media outlets highlights the sensitivity surrounding misinformation, particularly regarding high-profile individuals.
