DAC Highlights Need for Quantum-Resistant Infrastructure as Italy Prepares to Unveil First Quantum Supercomputer and Industrial Quantum Annealer

DAC, a quantum-resistant Layer-1 blockchain project, has highlighted the growing need for post-quantum security as Italy prepares to inaugurate its first Quantum Supercomputer and industrial quantum annealer, Volta B1, today, October 16, at the Digital Innovation Forum 2026.

DAC Spearheading Italy’s Quantum Computing Ambitions

Today’s inaugurations mark a significant milestone for Italy’s quantum computing ambitions, with Volta B1 set to become one of Europe’s most advanced quantum infrastructures. Developed under the technical and scientific supervision of Q-Alliance, this project also brings renewed attention to the long-term security of digital systems as quantum technologies continue to advance.

Davide Costa, Head of Innovation at DAC, participated in the Forum’s panel, “Frontier Technologies: Quantum Computing, HPC for Quantum Computing, Supercomputers and Blockchain,” alongside representatives from academia, research, and technology institutions.

This discussion focused on advances in computing technologies and infrastructure required to support future innovations. The growing importance of preparing for future quantum computing potential is especially relevant for blockchain networks, which use cryptographic methods to ensure transactions and digital assets are secure.
