Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol Surpasses $100 Million in Non-USDC Volume

Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) has achieved a significant milestone, processing over $100 million in cross-chain volume for assets other than its flagship stablecoin, USDC. This achievement follows the protocol's expansion to support multiple assets, which was initiated in September 2026. Tokens such as cirBTC, EURC, and WETH are now being transferred across different blockchains using Circle's innovative burn-and-mint model, which eliminates the need for wrapped tokens and associated liquidity pools.

The expansion of CCTP began on September 2, 2026, with the introduction of native EURC transfers, initially between Ethereum and Base, and later extending to Arc, a network designed for institutional use. Following this, cirBTC, a token backed 1:1 by Bitcoin, was launched on Arc on September 21, with transfers enabled shortly thereafter. WETH, a widely used asset in decentralized finance applications, was also incorporated into the protocol, enhancing its utility within the Arc ecosystem, particularly in lending applications like Aave V4.

CCTP has processed a cumulative volume exceeding $110 billion across all supported assets since its inception. The recent addition of Fast Transfers and Hooks in its V2 release aims to streamline settlement processes and enhance developer capabilities. Furthermore, the protocol is set to integrate additional blockchains, with Sui expected to join in October 2026, broadening its operational scope and potential for future growth.
