CleanSpark Secures 585MW Baseload Power for Texas Bitcoin Mining Operations

CleanSpark, a Bitcoin mining company, has obtained a conditional baseload designation from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), securing 585 megawatts (MW) of power for its operations in Texas. This development comes amid an ongoing regulatory review of large industrial electricity consumers in the state, which has heightened scrutiny on mining facilities. The company announced this milestone in its operational update for August 2026, highlighting its proactive engagement with ERCOT and the Public Utility Commission of Texas during this audit period initiated by Governor Abbott.

The conditional baseload designation is significant as it mitigates risks associated with power supply, providing CleanSpark with a more stable foundation for its operations. Currently, the company has 1.8 gigawatts (GW) of power under contract, with 808 MW actively in use. The newly secured 585 MW represents a substantial portion of unused capacity, allowing for potential expansion without the need for new grid studies.

In August, CleanSpark reported producing 593 Bitcoin (BTC) while operating with a reduced fleet of miners, achieving a peak daily output of 20.40 BTC. The operational hashrate stood at 50 exahashes per second (EH/s), despite a 13% decrease in the number of deployed miners compared to previous periods. This efficiency is attributed to hardware upgrades, resulting in lower electricity costs per Bitcoin mined.

In addition to its Texas operations, CleanSpark is also developing a facility in Sandersville, Georgia, under a 20-year triple-net lease expected to generate approximately $6.6 billion in revenue. This lease structure allows for a stable revenue stream, further supporting the company's financial position as it navigates the volatile Bitcoin market. The ERCOT designation remains conditional, pending the outcome of the ongoing regulatory review.
