Pump.fun Introduces New Callout Rewards System Tied to Followers' Profits

Pump.fun has announced a significant change to its callout rewards program, effective October 10, 2026. The platform will now reward users based on the actual profits their followers make from token recommendations, rather than the volume of trading activity generated by those recommendations. Co-founder Alon stated that this shift aims to create broader wealth effects and ensure that profits are more evenly distributed among users, rather than favoring a small group of skilled traders.

Under the revised model, users who recommend low-cap tokens will see a reduction in their rewards. This change addresses concerns about the risks associated with thinly traded assets, where late followers may incur losses. The program, which launched in August 2026 with a budget of approximately $15 million for payouts, has already undergone adjustments, including a recent reduction in rewards for high-frequency callouts to combat spam and improve content quality.

The new profit-based incentive structure encourages users to focus on making fewer, more strategic recommendations rather than posting frequently. However, the methodology for determining whether followers have benefited from a callout remains undisclosed, raising questions about how success will be measured. While the lack of transparency may prevent manipulation of the system, it also leaves participants uncertain about their potential earnings and the criteria for successful recommendations.
