DogeOS Launches Public Testnet for Dogecoin-Based Applications

DogeOS has officially launched its public testnet, enabling developers to create applications within the Dogecoin ecosystem. This application layer network is designed to be compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing for a range of decentralized applications, including decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions and gaming.

The testnet supports various projects such as lending protocols, perpetual contract trading platforms, stablecoins, and prediction market aggregators. Users can pay transaction fees in DOGE, the native cryptocurrency of Dogecoin. The initiative was spearheaded by the MyDoge wallet team and employs zkVM technology, functioning independently without modifying the underlying Dogecoin base layer.

While the public testnet is now live, the launch date for the official mainnet has yet to be disclosed. This development marks a significant step in expanding the utility of Dogecoin beyond its original use as a digital currency.
