Foreign Investors Dominate Tokenized US Treasuries Market

As of July 1, 2026, foreign investors in Italy, Portugal, and Singapore collectively hold 66.9% of the geolocated value of tokenized US Treasuries, according to a report by Chainalysis. In contrast, American holders account for only 10.5% of the total geolocated value in this market, which has seen significant growth over the past year.

Italy leads the foreign ownership with 29.9% of the geolocated value, followed by Portugal at 18.8% and Singapore at 18.2%. Although Japan has the highest number of geolocated holders at 16.4%, they represent a mere 0.4% of the total value, indicating a trend of many wallets with relatively small balances.

The total value of tokenized US Treasuries has surged to $15.42 billion, marking a 125% increase from $6.86 billion the previous year. Tokenized Treasuries now constitute 42.8% of the total value of all tokenized real-world assets. The rise in foreign investment is attributed to lower minimum investment thresholds and the elimination of the need for overseas investors to establish US brokerage accounts. Meanwhile, lending activity in this segment has declined by 23%, making it the only category of tokenized real-world asset lending to experience a downturn.
