Hyperliquid Negotiates with Kraken's Parent Company to Enter U.S. Market
Hyperliquid, a decentralized perpetual contract trading platform based in Singapore, is in advanced negotiations with Payward, the parent company of Kraken, to offer crypto perpetual contract products to U.S. traders. This potential partnership would utilize Bitnomial, a U.S.-regulated digital asset exchange and clearinghouse, to facilitate access for U.S. users, which has been previously restricted due to Hyperliquid's decentralized design.
If the agreement is finalized, it would mark Hyperliquid's first foray into the U.S. market. The platform currently boasts a daily trading volume exceeding $4 billion but has been unable to serve U.S. customers without a centralized operator. The collaboration with Bitnomial aims to meet necessary regulatory requirements, with Payward having already submitted a proposal to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) outlining the structure of the potential offering.
This development follows recent statements from former President Trump, indicating that his administration is working to facilitate Hyperliquid's entry into the U.S. market. Additionally, CFTC Chairman Michael Selig is actively seeking to support this initiative, as both the SEC and CFTC are advocating for the return of offshore perpetual contract trading to U.S. platforms.
