IonQ Stock Rises 12% After Revenue Forecast Update and SkyWater Acquisition

IonQ, a quantum computing company based in the United States, experienced a 12% increase in its stock price on September 8, 2026, following an update to its revenue guidance and the completion of its acquisition of SkyWater Technology, a semiconductor foundry. The company raised its revenue forecast for 2026 to between $450 million and $460 million, significantly higher than its previous estimate of $280 million to $290 million, reflecting the impact of the SkyWater acquisition, which closed on July 31, 2026.

The updated revenue guidance incorporates approximately five months of revenue from SkyWater Technology, which is expected to enhance IonQ's manufacturing capabilities and overall revenue profile. Additionally, IonQ reported remaining performance obligations of $485 million at the end of the second quarter of 2026, indicating strong customer commitments for future deliveries and reducing the risk of a one-time revenue spike.

IonQ's stock began to rise in premarket trading, gaining over 6% before the market opened, and continued to climb throughout the day. This surge followed the company's announcement of its first-ever joint Investor Day, where it also introduced Superion, its sixth-generation quantum computing platform. The chips for the Superion line will be manufactured at SkyWater's facility, further integrating IonQ's supply chain at a crucial time for quantum hardware development.
