Kalshi Seeks Approval for Perpetual Futures in Forex and Interest Rates

Kalshi has submitted an application to regulators to launch perpetual futures contracts focused on foreign exchange and interest rates. The application was filed on Monday, but as of Tuesday afternoon, the documents had not yet been made public by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

The exchange, which previously received approval to offer Bitcoin perpetual futures, has since expanded its offerings to include Ethereum and XRP. Kalshi is also in the process of launching perpetual futures for gold, silver, platinum, copper, and large-cap U.S. stock indices, with gold futures reportedly nearing launch.

Andy Ross, head of institutional business at Kalshi, emphasized that the perpetual futures will operate within a regulated framework, which will limit leverage based on the volatility of the underlying assets. Additionally, a study conducted by Kalshi indicated that its market prices align closely with actual outcomes, demonstrating effective pricing even in lower-volume trading environments.
