Lucas Joins Multicoin Capital's Investment Team to Support Crypto Founders

Multicoin Capital has announced the addition of Lucas to its investment team, effective October 1, 2026. Lucas, known for his contributions to crypto media through platforms like Pods Media and Bankless, will focus on investing in crypto founders. This appointment coincides with the ninth anniversary of Multicoin's founding, which also took place on October 1, but in 2017.

The firm has undergone significant leadership changes in 2026. Co-founder Kyle Samani transitioned to an advisory role in February, marking a notable shift in the company's structure. Following this, in March, Multicoin promoted Spencer Applebaum and Shayon Sengupta to General Partner and Co-Head of Venture, indicating a new direction for the venture practice.

Lucas's hiring may reflect Multicoin's strategy to intensify its focus on early-stage investments in the cryptocurrency sector. This move, alongside the recent leadership promotions, suggests that the firm is actively reshaping its investment approach and team dynamics. Multicoin's venture business is supported by a $422 million fund raised in January 2022, which complements its strategies in tokens and public markets.
