NEAR Intents and near.com Resume Operations Following $3.8 Million Attack
NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin announced that NEAR Intents and the website near.com have resumed operations after a recent security breach. The attack, which exploited vulnerabilities in the Omni deposit and withdrawal infrastructure and its interaction with NEAR Intents smart contracts, resulted in a loss of approximately $3.8 million, primarily affecting USDT on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC).
Despite the incident, Polosukhin confirmed that the NEAR core protocol, NEAR tokens, and other applications remained unaffected. Users impacted by the attack will receive full compensation for their losses. Some related services within the affected networks are still experiencing restrictions as the team works to ensure full security and functionality.
