Solana Achieves Record 14 Billion Transactions in Q3 2026
In the third quarter of 2026, Solana recorded over 14 billion transactions, marking its busiest quarter to date. The network processed approximately 14.2 billion transactions, reflecting a 45% increase compared to the previous quarter. This surge in activity was driven by network upgrades, growth in stablecoin usage, and an increase in on-chain payments.
During this period, the average daily active addresses reached about 4.1 million, a 12% rise from the second quarter. The average daily transactions were around 120 million, which is an 8% increase quarter-over-quarter. On peak days, the network managed over 169 million transactions. Additionally, the number of wallets holding SOL tokens grew to 8.38 million, a 20.5% increase, while stablecoin holders rose to 13.07 million, up 16% from the previous quarter.
Significant upgrades contributed to this growth, including the rollout of SIMD-0286 in late July, which increased compute limits, and a new transaction format introduced in mid-September. These enhancements helped maintain block times at approximately 400 milliseconds. Furthermore, the volume of on-chain card payments reached $262.7 million in Q3, surpassing the total for the entire second quarter before the third quarter concluded.
As of early October 2026, SOL was trading around $117, with a market capitalization estimated between $60 billion and $70 billion. Despite the increase in on-chain activity, daily trading volumes declined, suggesting that many holders may be adopting a long-term investment strategy. However, the increased compute limits and new transaction format pose challenges for validators, as maintaining efficient block times under heavier loads remains a critical test for the network.
