OpenAI seeks $30 billion funding at $1.4 trillion valuation, IPO pushed back to after 2027

PANews reported on September 30, citing CoinDesk, that OpenAI is seeking at least $30 billion in new funding at a valuation of about $1.4 trillion (excluding new capital), replenishing its war chest after postponing its IPO originally planned for 2026. The report, citing Bloomberg, said OpenAI's annualized revenue surpassed $40 billion this summer, up about 70% since July. The company recently launched its always-on AI agent "Dots" and introduced a $500-per-month premium subscription tier to expand its commercial product lineup. Previously, OpenAI completed a $122 billion funding round in March at a post-money valuation of about $852 billion. Meanwhile, rival Anthropic has filed its IPO prospectus and plans to spend about $518 billion on cloud computing and infrastructure after going public, with a potential valuation exceeding $2 trillion.
