Robinhood CEO: Crypto Event Contracts Will Surpass Sports Contracts in Prediction Markets
PANews reported on September 22, citing Decrypt, that Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said crypto-related event contracts have already taken up a considerable share of Robinhood's prediction market business, and he expects sports contracts to become a minority category within a few years. Tenev called sports contracts the "entry point" that drove the entire business's growth. "Sports have been a powerful tool for attracting users, acquiring liquidity, generating attention, and establishing market position, but I think the industry's development has long since moved beyond sports." Robinhood's event contract revenue in the second quarter of 2026 grew more than 10x year-over-year to $156 million, and August contract trading volume reached 4.7 billion contracts, roughly 15x the same period last year.
