Singapore F1 Event Week Flight Bookings Drop by Nearly 23%

As of early September, flight bookings for the 2026 Singapore Formula 1 race weekend have decreased by 22.92% compared to the same period last year. This decline is accompanied by a hotel booking rate that is approximately 14% lower than the previous year for the race long weekend, which raises concerns among industry stakeholders about the event's attendance.

Several factors are believed to contribute to this downturn. The race weekend coincides with China's National Day Golden Week, a time when many Chinese travelers are expected to be on holiday. Additionally, the return of the Malaysian Sepang Circuit after a nine-year hiatus, which is scheduled for the week prior to the Singapore event, may also divert potential attendees.

In contrast, TOKEN2049 Singapore, a major cryptocurrency conference, is set to take place at Marina Bay Sands from October 7 to 8, with expectations of attracting over 25,000 participants. This influx of attendees may provide a boost to the local economy, but it remains to be seen how it will impact the Formula 1 event.
