Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs Experience $1.22 Billion in Withdrawals

During the trading week of October 5-9, 2026, spot Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) faced significant net withdrawals totaling over $1.22 billion. This marked the worst week for Bitcoin funds since late June and the largest withdrawal for Ethereum products since January 2026.

Bitcoin ETFs recorded net redemptions between $679 million and $681 million, ending a three-week streak of inflows. The most substantial impact occurred midweek, with a single-day exit of approximately $484 million to $487 million. Meanwhile, Ethereum ETFs experienced outflows of around $542 million over five consecutive days, extending their losing streak to nine sessions.

BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust and its Ethereum counterpart were notably at the center of these withdrawals, contributing significantly to the total outflows. Additionally, Solana ETFs saw around $25 million in outflows, concluding a 14-week inflow streak. Despite the recent withdrawals, year-to-date inflows for both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs remain positive, although the market continues to navigate ongoing regulatory developments and volatility.
